I recently had a deck built by Down Home Construction. The deck was built using Azek Brownstone decking material. Joe Hay, the owner, was personally on site to see to it that everything was set up according to his proposed plan.

Shortly after building our house, we contacted several construction companies for design ideas and quotes to assist us in building a cedar deck. He was extremely professional and his design ideas, from a built-in fire pit to a gazebo, were original and unique. His team of workers was punctual throughout the entire process and the deck turned out better than we imagined. When we were ready to finish our basement, one company immediately came to mind. Mr. Hay’s design ideas for our basement were just as impressive as our deck. His suggestion to have the walls of the playroom only come up half-way so we could easily observe our children playing was great. In August of 2007, we hired Down Home Construction to build our deck. After researching our options, we decided to go with them because of their quality of work. Not only do they do nice work but they were very opened minded and worked with us to suit our needs. The crew that did the job were very polite and arrived on the job when they said they would and finished on time.
They cleaned the worksite up every day. They also didn't mind all of our questions we asked as they went along. We received several compliments from our neighbors on our new deck. My wife and I received five estimates prior to selecting Down Home Construction to build our deck. Joe Hay was extremely helpful and creative when we were designing our dream deck. He gave us several options and listened to what was important in our layout. I highly recommend Down Home Construction (DHC) for all your deck needs! I had my 40-year-old wood decks resurfaced with Trex and they are simply gorgeous. Love the clean/minimal look of the black aluminum railing and the beautiful way they framed my new lattice. DHC was professional, easy to work with, and answered all of my questions along the way.
Master craftsmen at a competitive price. We could not be happier with our 2 new decks! John’s crew took all the time necessary to insure that every element in our new Trex decking and rail system was installed with care and precision. And it shows! We were hesitant to invest a large sum to resurface almost 1300 sq ft of deck. But the finished project is going to save me endless hours of toil in maintenance that I would dread each spring… cleaning and treating our old wood decks. The salesman, Cesar, was friendly, and professional. He responded promptly to phone and email inquiries and provided a clear, detailed quote.
The removal team did a great job. They removed the old deck quickly, without excessive noise or disturbance, and took away all the materials without leaving any debris. I didn't find a single nail or bracket lying around after they left.
The construction crew also did a great job. They arrived promptly at 9am and finished the job by 5pm because they had a crew of five, all of whom worked constantly. They had great attention to detail, and the fit and finish of the deck is top notch. Like the removal team, they cleaned up all of the materials and debris, blew off the deck and put my grill and patio furniture back on the deck so that I had nothing to do after they left.

Down Home Construction removed are old cedar deck and replaced with a new Trex deck. John and his crew worked very hard during the construction. They are very professional and responsive all questions and input. We are repeat customers and highly recommend them.
